View Full Version : DVD Rebuilder with Filters?

Hey all,

I am told that DVD-RB makes use of the program AviSynth, and if one goes into custom settings in DVD-RB and edits .ini files (or something to that effect) one can download and add custom AviSynth filters to the encoding chain to improve the quality of encodes or reduce the amount of noise resulting from a lower bitrate encoding.

I read somewhere that their are a bunch of filters, but certain general filters are common and can be used on most movies with success. Can anyone recommend any general-use filters for improving quality when using DVD-RB with Procoder for example, as well as guides on how to install and setup these filters to be used with DVD-RB??

Thanks in advance,
Justin

ProCoder does some filtering of it's own by default. You could try the stuff on my page but, really, you need to learn a little more so you'll know what you're doing rather than just slapping some modifications into the processing chain.

If the source is clean or there isn't a lot of dirt/grain, I only use the LRemoveDust call. If it is grainy B&W, the cleaning is more thorough, using the full progressive filter from my page. The full animation filter is sloooow. It's running through Heavy Metal at 1 fps so the cleaning will take a week or so. This is an extreme situation, though, as the source is dirty and has very pronounced compression artifacts.
