Hi, especially JDOBBS, I really LOVE youre DVD-RB-PRO, you know, despite my remarks now and then, and now I have other two points that can be done when you're willing to implement filter support.

It's about CLOSE ALL GOPPS and FADE ON STATIC SCENES

Both option are set OFF by default. The problem is that making FADE ON STATIC SCENES a DVD-RB-SETTING for CCE (2.70 at least) can IMPROVE results here.

The CLOSE ALL GOPS is usefull for my compressed stuff, I want to re-author using DVD-LAB-PRO 1.53.

That programm is always complaining about the fact that ALL GOPS SHOULD BE CLOSED BY ENCODER SETTINGS OR ELSE CHAPTER POINTS ARE NOT PRECISE.

Don't blame me please.....

If you go to improve the CCE 2.70 support (and I hope so), please take these two simple settings into account also.

Again I LOVE DVD-RB-PRO !!!

But filter support and CLOSED GOPS would make me feel happy, and I hope others users also.

Using custom matrices is really nice, but also an SUPER-advanced feature.

So I hope the standard encoder option support for CCE 2.70 will not make you feel bad...

Thanx

Just a note. Forcing closed GOPs can hurt picture quality. Also, since DVD-RB breaks the stream into segments and encodes them individually, the problem with chapter points doesn't exist... the first GOP in the segment (including chapter start points) will never be dependent upon a prior GOP.

I know, but that's were reauthoring comes in.......

After compression you demux the VOB's into elemenmtairy streams without chapter points. Then DVD-LAB pro is gonna complain.......

That's the problem, and for that purpose only would it be a nice addition.

Or if you gonna reencode stuff of youre own......

And wants to author it adding menus and such.....

ALL GOPS SHOULD BE CLOSED BY ENCODER SETTINGS OR ELSE CHAPTER POINTS ARE NOT PRECISE.

I get that message from DVD-Lab too... but that never gave me any problems... as long as you index the frames before you set the chapter points.... it may not be Frame Accurate but I don't think that something like a 1/4 (0.25) seconds can be a problem (if the difference is that big... I'm not sure :) - the chapters are on the place I marked when I see the final DVD).
