I have several music dvds and concerts and i want to make a compilation usins just 1 or 2 songs from certain dvds but have no idea how to begin?

One way would be to use DV Shrink in "Re-author" mode...

http://www.dvd-replica.com/DVD/ is a good place to start learning about the DVD spec. It use to be better, but now they have cut back the info, trying to get you to pay for it. Once you understand the structure, you will have a much better idea as to how to organize the DVD-- how many titlesets, etc. Of course all this is going to change with the introduction of higher capacity DVD specs. This assumes you are using a higher end authoring program (like Scenarist) that enables you to control the structure.

If your goal is to get the music and use it on a CD-Audio for car..use the above app

If your gaol is to get the music and make a DVD with different songs...use DVD-Shrink as mentioned above and cut the beginning and end for each song and save as individual folders. Then use re-author to import all them back into one disc

just use dvddec to demux the PGC's/Chapters for each track you want, then drop them into a dvd authoring app.
