I have a DeLL Inspiron 1250 Laptop, and of course the 2-year extended warranty ran out months ago, and now the lcd screen is breaking off (I guess from much usage).
I am very worried it is just going to completely die and fall off within the next few days, but sending this directly to DeLL costs far too much money for a service / repair call.
Are there any 3rd party places that can repair laptops that any of you know of for the USA that are reasonable pricewise?

Here at work we've had some issues with a couple of HP laptops. HP also charges an arm and a leg for repair work. As an alternative, we've used Radio Shack. I don't know if they service Dell or not but it might be worth a phone call. You can't just take it to your neighborhood store, but there may be a service center nearby, depending on where you live.

There is a "neighborhood store" here that specializes in selling used and repairing old laptops, but they're still pretty pricey. They advertise a used Dell 650 mhz laptop for the same price you can get a brand new one on sale. Their site is MrNotebook.com.

Dude, you're letting down the whole male of the species. Fix it yourself. You can probably fix it without spending a penny.
That plastic case will come off if you take out a few screws. There may be a few hooks/latches holding the case together. You can separate those by working a flat-head screw driver through were the parts join. But, use something softer than a metal screw driver if you don't want to dent the plastic.
As this looks like a simple mechanical problem, it should be simple to fix. For example, broken plastic can be put together with a good glue. But, if you're just not up to it fixing the broken part yourself, you can easily find replacement parts over the internet.
