Sounds like the burn was not very good (most likely a media problem). Your computer is probably a better reader. Your dvd player might need cleaning as well. Mine was starting to not recognize disks and skip. I took it apart and cleaned the laser lens with a qtip and rubbing alchol. It works much better now although I do not recommend that anybody take apart their DVD player unless they know what they are doing. There are products that you can buy that supposedly clean your player but I have never used them. Have you used the ridata media before and not had a problem? If there is no pixalation problem on your computer than it is not a DVD-RB or CCE problem.

Its no doubt a media ploblem. It would help if you can find a DVD drive that can scan disks for errors, like NEC 3540.
Most errors in my own disks appear at the end of the disk (a small ammount of errors is acceptable and unavoidable). Especially when I use printable labels for them. If you want to fix it copy to a new disk.
It is extremely helpful to be able to see the quality of the disk you just burned, so I would definetely recommend a drive that has such capabilities.

A good drive is one such as a plextor 712, or PX-716 or newer models.
They have verry good scanning software included.
The NEC 3540 with freeware tools gives unreliable results.....

The media might be marked as compatible but still be crap. You should get some good media like Taiyo Yuden DVD+R's. Make sure you get genuine TY media though.

I have to second that. Riteks used to be very good media. I am not so convinced of that anymore.
As far as TYs go, they are really the best you can get. I use nothing but +r and I burn at 8x on my Benq. Hundreds burned and not one stutter, freeze or any type of pixelization.

Have you changed the TargetSectors value? One of the reasons it defaults to 4.32GB is to help prevent the "weak outer sectors" issue. Even the "high-quality" discs often have problems there.

Even the "high-quality" discs often have problems there.Yes, I recently fiddled with TargetSectors, and while my burning software said I had 3Mb free space left on my high-quality Verbatim DVD+R, when I asked it to Burn it "hung" at the end. I never had that problem before. Anyway, as jdobbs has suggested before, we monkey with TargetSectors at our own risk.
I was able to re-burn my titleset by using the Overburn setting (gave me another 5Mb of headroom, and this worked) but I've re-set my TargetSectors to default again.
