DVD files - read from DVD or rip to HDD first ??

In the interest of quicker work, is there much speed gained by ripping a DVD to the HDD and having DVD-RB read it vs reading from the DVD directly ??

I'm guessing "no" .... it's running right now and only occassionally do I hear it access the DVD. It must copy chunks to RAM or the HDD on it's own. Yes ??

hallway: I first rip it to the HDD with vobblanker to erase things I don't want in the DVD5. then I do a full DVD backup with DVD RB.
