I'm curious to know if anyone is using th 64-bit version of virtualdub and if it offers any performance benefit over the 32-bit version.

I've just ordered an athlon 64 x2 4800+ system and am trying to decide if it's worth the hassle to install the 64-bit Windows XP. Some of my existing peripherals don't appear to have 64-bit drivers yet.

Cheers,

Well, acording to test on this forum, 64-bit version of VirtualDub is, about, 20-25 % faster in video encoding then 32-bit.

But, you shouldn't forget fact that, at the moment, all codecs are 32-bit versions, so you may use 64-bit VirtualDub, but codecs isa still only 32-bit.

When market deliver us 64-bit codecs, then we will see much better results in VirtualDub 64-bit, perhaps even 50-60 % speedup.
