Quick question. From what I have ready support for multiple frame rates on the same DVD is now supported. If this is true, does Scenarist support this? So having a 25 FPS video and 23.975 FPS video on the same DVD. I know the application gives you a choice of only one or the other when you create a new dvd menu.
Thanks.

Either PAL (25fps) or NTSC (29,97fps) is allowed on a DVD.
You must not mix PAL and NTSC on the same DVD regardless of your authoring app.

I'm not saying it's legal, but check out:

Some guys have figured out ways to make DVD Lab Pro and TMPGenc's DVD authoring application accept both PAL and NTSC on the same disc. I don't believe that such trickery is possible with Scenarist, but I'm posting the link in case it's of interest as a possible way to do it using other programs.

A lot of authoring programs will permit this (even MuxMan) but it is not a spec compliant DVD.

Thanks for the replies and info. I may be mistaken, however thought I red before that this was a newer standard for DVD compliance but may not remember the article right.
In case the issue was in regards to 4:3 and 16:9, is this restriction the same with 4:3 and 16:9 on the same disk? When you create Scenarist projects it asks you for the aspect ratio and then allows you to change it on individual assets, however even though it lets you do that, I believe it craps out when you try to multiplex the data into a dvd.

Aspect ratio is a tricky thing, but first and foremost it must be compatible for all assets in one domain. That means each VTS's menu domain can be one ar, and the title domain another. The domains have only 2 aspect ratios - 4:3 and 16:9. But including VMG, there are 199 domains.
As for compatibility, video can have one of 3 ARs - 4:3, 4:3 with P/S, and 16:9. 4:3 with P/S is compatible with either 4:3 or 16:9 as it actually is 16:9 anamorphic, but contains information for 4:3 display.

im not sure why scenarist makes you choose. you can pick 4:3 and use all 16:9 assets. as mpucoder stated, you just have to keep the AR the same in a VTS(ie the whole menu must be 4:3 or 16:9 and the whole 'movie' must be either 4:3 or 16:9 for an individual vts). most dvds have mixed ARs with the movie VTS being 16:9 and the extras VTS(s) being 4:3... and some dvds with the widescreen/fullscreen option have 16:9 for one version of the movie and 4:3 in another VTS for the fullscreen version.
