I've seen a lot about virtualdubmod her but nothing about virtualdub-mpeg2 by fccHandler (http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/stable/) . It's built on the latest vdub release (V1.6.11).

Maybe that's because it is not as buggy as VDubMod. :)
fccHandler's work is well known and highly respected, but it never hurts to point it out again.

A russian version (only the executable) is available; see the following links: Build 18303 No-1 (http://msilab.net/show.php?rus=638) and Build 18303 No-2 (http://clubrus.kulichki.net/rus/v/sam_vdubmpeg1510b18303rus.zip).
The immediately previous build, 18294 can be found here (http://www.ogg.cn/software/view-software-305.html).
If what you need is the source code, your better chance seems to request it from the author (unless you are prepared to google deeper :) ).
Edit:
I see (afterwards of course) you have reached the author. Well, nothing is as authorative as the author himself, so I link the answer: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=756801#post756801

Well, I read at www.free-codecs.com that 1.6.12 is stable version.

The sourceforge (http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/) page lists it as "experimental," plus I understand that Avery Lee made crucial changes to VirtualDub's capturing code. That scares me, because its video capture mode is an especially important feature that I use daily.
I probably won't upgrade VirtualDub-MPEG2 1.6.11 until the new VirtualDub is declared 100% stable.

Can't you add an experimental version of VDub-MPEG2 based on 1.6.12 and keep the old version based on 1.6.11 until 1.6.12 becomes stable...

I'd rather not risk putting out an experimental build, and then receiving a lot of bug reports due to Avery Lee's changes. I always prefer to let Avery work his bugs out first, before I add my own. ;)
Also, I'm not currently able to devote any time to this project. My real life is pretty crazy right now.

Understood.
Only Problem is: Without MPEG-2 support, I cannot test VDub, since I use it to convert MPEG-2 files...

me2 :)
VirtualDub-MPEG2 is THE program for converting my MPEG-2 captures
But I'm still waiting for a better ASF/WMV support to convert those nasty WMV files to an usefull format. ASF Tools does the job most times, but it seems to not beeing developed any longer and some newer files cannot be converted at all. VirtualDub-MPEG2's ASF import works even for those files that cannot be converted by ASF Tools, but they run out of synchonity...

for wmv/asf i use mencoder to output avi/mpeg2... (and mplayer to dump the internet streaming)

Avysinth is your friend !
and btw the difference between 1.6.11 and 1.6.12 aren't so important for mpeg2 converting... just for capturing
