View Full Version : Capturing Playstation2 audio over Optical/TOSlink

I'm trying to capture some audio from a Playstation2 game ("ObsCure") via the PS2's digital optical out port, but having a bugger of a time doing so. I'm using an ADS Tech "Instant Music" capture box with RCA and optical in ports (using the optical in obviously) and Nero Wave Editor software running on WinXP.

I can capture fine with the RCA stereo in, but it seems there's no audio whatsoever when using optical. I've verified multiple times that the port is switched on in the PS2's configuration screen, and the cable is plugged in securely. The capture box indicates that it's receiving some sort of S/PDIF optical signal, but there just seems to be no material flowing over that signal.

Anyone tried ripping audio from PS2 games before, and can lend a few tricks and tips? If it comes down to it, ripping over RCA is fine, but I'd just prefer to have a perfect digital copy.

Thanks!
