Me again! :D Please bear with me. I am just getting my feet wet with this.

1 - The D2SRoba version included with DVD2SVCD 1.2.3b1 I noticed is version 3.1.1.1. The latest version I believe is 3.80, but you could not download this latest version anywhere (using google search), much more so the home page for D2SRoba is not there anymore (or is there another site I am missing?). Anybody know where I can download the latest version to try out with my DVD2SVCD.

2 - What is everbody's take on using D2SRoba vs. not using it? It does cut down the time to process an SVCD versus using the full CCE encode and whatever many passes you want it to do. But does anybody notice a quality difference? Does the D2SRoba processed SVCD has about the same or maybe much better quality than the full CCE processed SVCD?

3 - Also I noticed that when I switched to CCE 2.67.0.23 D2SRoba does only one Q search (Q36) versus when I was using CCE 2.50 when it goes to 3 or 4 Q searches before deciding on the best one. Can anybody point me in the right direction as to settings in D2SRoba or DVD2SVCD when using CCE 2.67.0.23?

Thanks for any helpful response. :p

1. Eh? The latest version is the one bundled with DVD2SVCD. I am not sure where you have got this 3.1.1.1 from  I am not even aware of the existance of such a version. I would uninstall any builds of DVD2SVCD you may have on your machine and do a fresh reinstall of the latest bundle.

You are right by the way - the download link in the development thread is dead. Leave it with me :)

2) Yes it makes the process quicker and most agree the quality is as good if not better.

3) CCE version is not really relevant. Some sources (clean, low movement stuff) compress better than others (eg action scenes, old noisy film). The first Q search is done at a "best guess" at what might be the right Q value to fill the target discs. If this proves accurate, the encode goes at that Q value. If not, the Q search is repeated until the right Q value is found. It is a lot more to do with how compressible your source video is rather than which version of CCE you are using. Hope that makes sense.

Cheers

Appreciate the fast response!

1 - You're right. The latest version of D2SRoba is bundled with the latest DVD2SVCD 1.2.3b1. My bust. I was looking inside the "Tylo" installation directory and happen to right-click on the d2sroba.exe file. I guess the installation file version is 3.1.1.1 LOL! duh!

2 - A few days ago I was able to compare encoding with CCE 2.50.10 vs 2.67.023. Did not really notice any big difference other than the same DVD encoded by 2.67.023 seems a little sharper and a noticeable halo around objects and people. Other than this I would probably have preferred 2.67.023.

3 - Well, all I can say is that I have done 3 different DVD's with 2.67.023 and every single time it stops at Q36 and starts encoding. It does not do the random Q searches which my 2.50.10 does all the time? Coincidence that all 3 DVD's have the same DVD properties???

Thanks.

My Double Bust!!? :D

It's an amazing coincidence that all three DVD's would only do Q36.
And this is true! All 3 DVD's are instructional videos under 4 GB.
The videos are grainy, which leads me to believe that were
encoded into the DVD format from their old VCD format.

The reason I can verify this is that I tried to do one DVD movie in my
collection and the darn thing did about 4 Q searches using the CCE
6.27.0.23 setup!

How about that. The jokes on me again!
