I can't believe I've been trying to do this for about a week now. I think the answer to my question is no but I'd like conformation from some of you experts. I've read all the guides and I got the impression that this was possible.
Can you take the tracks off a regular stereo audio CD and turn them into a true 5.1 channel DD music file???

Depends on your definition of true. But yes, many people do it, see the surround methods sticky (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=83752) and do some searching.

Kpex,
Thank you for answering. Another question. When I rip an CD using EAC as wave file and then use Besweet to convert it to 6 mono waves I get 6 seperate wave files but only two of them contain audio? How do you get 6 seperate mono's and have audio in all 6? Is the key to this possibly sox.exe? I am trying to learmn this as well as understand it but there is so much to read and so many different ways to do it it does get a little confusing.
I have read every guide and almost every post in this forum so I'm not lazy just trying to understand better.
Thanks
