I upgraded to nero 7 and found that my AVISynth scripts that rely on DirectShowSource() to load DVR-MS files no longer work.
The Nero decoder is the only MPEG2 decoder active on my system when I convert DVR-MS. It's proven to be the most reliable for this particular purpose and yields the best results, partucaly when feeding content for Telecide() and Decimate(). But with the V7 update I've found that the scripts will only load within the Nero tools and WMP.
Any attempt to play MPEG2 content in mplayerc (with its own internal codec disabled) or any other 3rd party player fails, as it cannot load the codec. Any attempt to use an AVISynth script that relies on the decoder via DirectShowSource fails unless the script is loaded into their own tools.
It would seem, based on an admitedly cursory investigation, that Ahead Software has limited the use of their MPEG2 decoder to their own apps and a limited set of other apps like Windows Media Player.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else has seen this. Apologies in advance if there is some big-ass thread somewhere on this, a quick search didn't pop up anything obvious.
