I recently discovered AutoGK, and won over by its possibilities.

However, everytime I try to convert an mpeg to divx, I get this error...

"AVIOutput: Access is Denied" in VirtualDub.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I have something simular. I get "Fastwritestream: couldn't open d:\gordianknot\test.avi " when it wants to start the second pass, I allready deinstalled every other program that uses avisynth and my version of Xvid nothing helps then went to a another clean machine and the same error I am at a loss if someone can help me out I would be very gratefull.

<edit>
I think I found the solution in this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=102012)
I'll try and get back tomorrow

Nope wasn't that, it was covered in the Faq (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=72679)

I'm getting the same error message with AutoGK 2.27 like swhang. The Output will be processed til the end, but resulted 1400MB-file has no sound in it. But the two 700 MB-files are having sound. In between the error-message appears.

because I'm using a non-english WinXP i'm trying to provide a translation which conveys the general sense:

AVIOutput: The process can't take hold of the file, because it's being used by a different process.

I had 2.26 installed previously. I uninstalled it, rebooted and installed 2.27. After I was getting this error-message with a few test-encodings I uninstalled 2.27, removed (hopefully) all additional Tools and directories (AviSynth, gabest\VobSub, system32\DVobSub.ax) and hoped to get a clean before-autogk-system with that. So Installed 2.27 after a reboot again and am getting the same error. Does someone know what causes this conflict ?

Where in the FAQ is it covered, I can't find it under AVIoutput.

Hi,

I am new to AGK and I encountered exactly the same problem as 'machser' described 3 years ago.
I upgraded from ver. 2.45 to 2.55 but with no result, the problem still exist, some of output files are still with no sound.
To find the rule I experimented converting this same 1035 MB file in TS format to AVI file, using different predefined sizes.

Here are the results:
[1/2 CD (350 MB)] - a message "AVIOutput: Process has no access to file because it is used by the another process", no sound
[1 CD (700 MB)] - OK (passed)
[2 CD's (1400 MB)] - for the first time was OK, for the second time a message "AVIOutput: Process has no access to file...", created 3 files: 1 file 1021 MB (all the video in one part with no sound) + 2 parts with sound: *.cd1.avi (738MB) + *.cd2.avi (347MB)
[3 CD's (2100 MB)] - a message "AVIOutput: Process has no access to file...", created 3 files: 1 file 1021 MB (all the video in one part with no sound) + 2 parts with sound: *.cd1.avi (735MB) + *.cd2.avi (367MB)
[1/3 DVDR (1493 MB)] - a message "AVIOutput: Process has no access to file...", no sound (4 times)
[1/4 DVDR (1120 MB)] - OK
[1/5 DVDR (896 MB)] - OK
[1/6 DVDR (746 MB)] - a message "AVIOutput: Process has no access to file...", no sound (2 times)
[Custom 1401 MB] - for the first time a message "AVIOutput: Process has no access to file...", no sound, for the second time OK
[Custom 1800 MB] - a message "AVIOutput: Process has no access to file...", no sound
[2 GB (max)] - OK

The results depend on the volume of the file. When converting a smaller, 207 MB file, all conversions passed except the predefined size [1/4 CD (175 MB)].

Below is the log of the conversion to the [Custom 1401 MB] size.

Can you explain what is the reason of the problem and how to fix it?

I noticed your file is a TS format.

Input file: C:\Documents and Settings\kmaj\Pulpit\Filmy\PVR\D. SCIENCE\Industry.ts

A suggestion for an experiment that might solve the problem. Convert the TS format file to regular MPEG PS using MPEGStreamclip and then try that converted file in AutoGK.

Better still demux the TS file into vdeo and audio using ProjectX to clean things up and then remux back to a single MPEG file.

Apparently the newer versions (not sure at what point as I've been fighting this for a while) of both the XVid and DivX codecs broke Gordian Knot. Once I uninstalled, cleaned the registry and installed the older versions of the two codecs I was able to continue to convert the DVD-RWs I recorded. Since I had to upgrade my hard drive already (running out of room) I'm going to set a second setup of Windows and use it only for converting so it can use the old codecs and my regular setup uses the most current.

I'm not saying it's the problem everyone had but it worked for me.

I was fighting this error as well when unexpectantly, the answer popped up in a snapstream forum. In my case, the folder I was working from, was a watched folder in BTV (Beyond TV). Thus the error was creeping up because of such. As simple as moving the file to another folder, and it's completely solved this glitch. I just wanted to mention it in case someone else with the same situation runs across it.

/edit Oh and I noticed in Chris_M's log that he too is coming from a PVR folder.
