This is my first post here, but I have been coming to this site for a long time as it has helped me alot thru out the years. I am not faced with a slight problem that I can't seem to find an answer too.

Here is the situation. I have an HTPC setup in my living room and wanted a quick and easy way to rip dvd's to my HTPC for my video-on-demand system. Right now I am using DVD Decryptor from commandline to make iso's of the dvd's. This works perfect, but the problem is space. I would like to use DVD Shrink to compress the DVD's down to a more manageble size at a constant compression rate. All of those movies will be viewed on a 32" TV so I do have alot of flex when it comes to the quality of the movies.

Now I read a few places that DVD Shrink has commandline support in it, but have not been able to find a list of known commands. Now if I am wrong and it doesn't have commandline support then I need to find a solution that has full commandline support and can compress the movies. I am willing to have the output file be a movie file or an iso, either will work.

So anyone here who can help me out or point me to the right direction?

Hi!
May I ask why you feel you can only use DVd Shrink from a command line?
I believe there's a useful tool floating around named "MultiShrink"...

Well, I don't even know for sure if DVD Shrink can actually be used from commandline line. I have also looked at that Multishrink and while it's nice in its own right, it still requires a decent amount of user interaction.

Right now as my setup stands, I use a batch file to launch DVD Decryptor and automaticly make an iso file just by selecting "Rip DVD" in my HTPC menu with the remote. There is no user interaction needed. I need it so easy that my wife can use it. Right now she loves being able to put a dvd in, clicking on "Rip DVD" with the remote and bam, its all done. As I said though, the problem is the size of the iso's. At 8gb a pop, that starts to fillup space real fast.

If there is another program out there that can shrink like DVD shrink can and can be fully automated from a single commandline batch file, then thats what I am looking for. If that program is DVD Shrink then even better, because I like DVD Shrink, but I am not joined to it at the hip, I am willing to parts way for another program if it fits the bill better.

DVD-RB has a batch mode that might suit your needs. That's what I switched to after becoming fed up with poor results from DVD-S at high levels of compression. http://dvd-rb.dvd2go.org/

I have checked out the free version of DVD-RB and it's nice. I have done a few test rips with it, but as far as I know it does not support commandline. So I can't call it up and have it do its thing with a single click, shortcut or bat file.

I have changed the title to better reflect what I am looking for.
