I have no problem playing my movies on the PC that I used to create them, but what codec would I need to install just to play them? I used the bundled Auto GK 2.20, with the XviD option and the MP3 option. I would like to have to only install those codecs that I need.

just XviD will be sufficient then

using XviD to decode your video will be enough, provided you set its decoder to decode XviD content. just remember to do so.

and try media player classic. light on ressources. will decode mp3 natively.

You don't need to set the XviD decoder to decode XviD. Does that by default.

Thanks. Which Xvid should I use...the one bundled with Auto GK 2.20 or the newest one and Will there be a problem using Windows Media Player? I have that installed and it works on my main system just fine.

The current bundled version is fine. Not sure what was bundled with 2.20, but there were some fixes to XviD's dshow decoder somewhere along the line so the newer, the better really.
