View Full Version : Is there any equivalent of MP3GAIN for AC3?

Have a soft AC3 stream whose volume I would like to increase without reencoding. As you may well know, MP3GAIN can manipulate the volume of MP3s without reencoding and I am wondering if there is a similar utility for AC3?

If there isn't - I have tried using BeSweet to reencode AC3 to AC3 but all it does is give this error:

BeSweet v1.5b24 by DSPguru.
--------------------------
Using azid.dll v1.9 (b922) by Midas (midas@egon.gyaloglo.hu).
Error 85: support for ac3enc.dll had been removed due it its suckness!
Quiting...
[00:00:00:000] Conversion Completed !

Logging ends : 12/11/05 , 21:40:00.

Amusing but not very helpful.

Other threads I have found say AC3 to AC3 using BeSweet is easy, so I'm obviously missing something here...

Your help appreciated

there isn't any "ac3gain" program

install BeLight + last ac3enc package (browse forum for link)

(and btw your besweet is outdated...)

If you play the media only with foobar2k v0.83, the ReplayGain(track & album) can be scan-tagged and reflected on any media types.

The ReplayGain concept (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Replaygain) is adopted by many formats/tools/players but the implementations look different.

Hi

Download the latest beta version of of besweet and it should
work fine.

You can use belight or the beta BeSweetGUI its up to you
personaly I prefer BeSweetGUI (habit)

Boost works fine on low volume tracks.
