Thanks by the tips. :)
I had to go back to previous version of the ERP(1.93=>1.92). The AVS Script that I normally used, stop working {directshowsource("xxxxxxxxxxx", fps=xxxx)}. Do you know if something have changed in avs script?
I'll download that one (1.82) and keep it, :thanks: for the link.
I have been playing with h.264 a few times, but I find it slower than rmvb.
I try it out with "Real Anime Le", and I compared that with the same file encoded in ERP (with Real Video 9). It took the double of the time. And the quality and size were not so different.
About language translation software, what do you recommend for this purpose?
P.S.: To rename the *.temp left by the ERP never worked for me. When I read your post, it just happend here and I try it. As I already said, it didn't work, unfortunately.

Avi(xvid), 624x352, audio:mp3 - encoded in RA Le with aac 32 and 432 total, 1 pass, quality medium, 03:55m(piece of Desperate Housewives, cut in Virtual Dub with that purpose)
It took about 8 minutes to enconde in RA Le and 4 minutes in ERP, 1 pass same resolution and size.
My PC is a AMD 3200 (32) with 1GB ram.
Probably I'm doing something wrong.

since when 1 pass is good? :(
[edit]
Also, no codec are good in 1 pass on short clips.

Wel.... but it was a test I did, wasn't it? :D
It can't be that way? It doesn't matter if it were or not good.
I wanted see speedXquality, and I choose that way to compare it.
It couldn't be the best way, but it was the way I did. :helpful:
Wich one do you recommend? Show me that I'll do, for sure. :)

In my tests x264 and aac+ v2 outperform greatly real codecs on anime content. LE defaults produce excellent output at 67MB in 2h45 for 24 minutes anime in my AMD64 3000+ in 3 pass.
I suggest you test your old encoding style on a full episode then LE on a full epidose, at default settings.

Your piece of software is amazing and it does a great job, if I encode it only sometimes.
Sirber, if I understood well, it took 165minutes to encode an anime of 24 minutes length. Right?
If that was true - imho - it was very much time, in fact an eternity(*). If you will only encode once in a while, it's ok. But imagine to encode, for example, a whole anime called Touch, it has 101 episodes with +- 24 minutes each (I did it). It will result in 165*101=16665 minutes or 277, ... hour, or 11,... days encoding directly without turn off the computer.
(*)I'm not here to make apology of the ERMP, neither I'm gaining anything. But it takes in my machine 1:1 (24 minutes anime X 24 minutes to encode) if I encode in VBR 1 pass (the quality - If I'm not perfectionist at the poiint of inspecting pixel by pixel, is good. Yes I like it). Or 2 pass - VBR - HIGH - 2:1 ratio.
Of course it's an average, but very close.
Maybe it's a matter of preference. I prioritize more speed (with a quality good enough to my critic sense) while you prefer excellency instead of velocity.
Sorry this reply is already very long.

I'm currently encoding One Piece and I expect it to take a month or so, 24h/24. No big deal... it runs at IDLE.

Hahahaha! (lol) :goodpost:
Remarkable virtue - patience -
That is the difference between a good programmer like you, and an admirer like me. :D

not so say I went through Naruto before... 1½ months ago... ;)
Well, if you are that short in time, you can do 2 pass x264 at low which should take about ~35 minutes instead of ~2h45... not sure about quality though... but x264 is pretty strong :)
@redcheek
sorry to pollute your thread :(

Redcheek!!!! Wow!
I'm surrounded by talented people.
As I already said to Sirber, you are the same "rare species" like him.
Two pieces of software that I have in my machine (RALE - I'm just learning how to best use it) and ERMP - that I already (and still) used it since 1.7 (I think).
Nice to see you here.:D

Do you fav Real or x264 now?
I think Real11 maybe contain H.264+AAC in the future
Maybe Karl know what I say :)

You can give me the anime guide link so I can know RA moreNo guide yet :( RealAnime LE is still in development. A guide will be made for final release. With the defaults, on an AMD64 3000+, for a 24 minute anime, it takes ~2h45 to recode it. Output file will be ~67MB and quality will kick ass. More infos here:

why do you choose aac for the default audio in RealAnime LE?why not MP3 or MP3 Pro?
I think just less people use MPC and othes use WMP for watching the Rip movies.
MKV is a good container ,but .avi is easy to watch
Sirber
9th December 2005, 13:58
I watch what I encode, I don't encode for people to watch ;)

hehe,I know :p
which bit rate do you use to encode usually?
800k or 1000k?
Sirber
9th December 2005, 14:48
368 video, 32 audio :D, so 400k
LE defaults are my default ;)
I think it would be best to move to RealAnime Le thread and stop polluting ERMP thread. I will ask Karl to move the posts to it.

Hi Sirbe.
I followed the advice of Redcheek and encoded Naruto 163 at default settings except:quality (low) with 2 pass. It took 44 minutes with that anime at 22 minutes length. The final quality was very, very good. Indeed: great. The next step will be do the same with a movie and see if the final result will be the same. Note that the ratio was the same as ERMP 2 pass. Nice, uh! :D
