View Full Version : DVD Shrink-too many main movie titles?
Beowulf

I ussually use DVD Shrink to burn the main movie title to a DVD, but in this case DVD Shrink has 8 main movie title options to choose from. When each of the main movie title options are previewed using DVD Shrink the movie appears exactly the same 8 times, but when the movie is actually burned to a DVD the movie is different.
My question is how can I tell what the movie is going to turn out to be like when burned without having to burn all eight main movie titles?
thanks

Why would they want to link the same movie eight times anyway?

What movie is it you are backing up?
There have been cases where some movies have several main movie titles and they are all the same aspect ratio. In other words, no 4:3 and 16:9 on the same disk... it may just be an attempt to possibly confuse your backup program. I may be wrong but I believe that the movie 'Madagascar' had several main movies which were all the same.
My question is how can I tell what the movie is going to turn out to be like when burned without having to burn all eight main movie titles?
Pick the first main title and create an ISO with Shrink, then view the ISO with a media player like WinDVD or whatever viewer you use. If it plays O.K. then burn it with ImgBurn or DVDD.

The movie is some rare title known as 'Nekromantik II '. Most likely its an attempt to confuse the backup program.
Thanks for the advice I will give it a try and see if it works. :)

Did a google on the movie Nekromantik...got some info. from Wikipedia. It is banned in Great Britain...it is about necrophilia. Man that is one sick movie. Why would you watch such stuff? :scared:

it is not our role in these forums to play censor and moral police in regards to the choice of content members wish to view.
its a sad fact that here in australia, many movies get banned despite being widely avaliable o/s. it is not a question of whether i would want to watch these movies, the problem i have is that i have not been given a choice ....
....and besides, i would bet a lot of members here have seen 'weekend at bernies' and last time i checked, that movie also contained a necrophillic scene ... :D

Play the DVD on a standalone DVD player and select and review each of the TITLES...

Play the DVD on a standalone DVD player and select and review each of the TITLES... wouldnt that be easier to keep track of playing in a software player?
personally i would open the dvd in ifoedit and check the structure of the main movie vts.
my guess is that they have simply created 8 pgc's with the same video but alternate audio/subpicture streams.
if you can post the relevant section from ifoedits main window, it would be easy to see ....
isnt there an option on dvd shrink to combine shared titles?
btw beowulf hasnt mentioned anything in regards to the compression required in shrink to back-up this dvd. so we are really flying blind as to whether the 8 titles is even an issue ....

Yes, a combine shared titles would do the disk in full disk mode and there'd be no worries.
But I think Beowulf wants to do a "re-author". There's a few reasons for so many main movies, including:
different languages on certain cells (eg the credits/intros)
different angles in various cells
seamless branches to other content
The one very very easy way to determine what you want is to follow jel's advice. Play the darn thing through in a software player - selecting everything you would normally select from the menu and note which title and angle (if any) are playing in the on screen display.
Then, you know exactly what to use in DVD Shrink/Recode etc.

I am no moral policeman...to each his own.
The following from Wikipedia is what evoked my comment.
NEKRomantik is a German movie by Jorg Buttgereit made in 1987. The story is about Rob (Daktari Lorenz) and his girlfriend (Beatrice Manowski) who share the same interest: corpses. Rob works in Joe’s Street-Cleaning Agency, which removes dead bodies from the street. This job gives Rob the chance to bring the corpses to his home where he and his girlfriend have sex with them. Not everything goes well and Rob is fired from his job and rejected by his girlfriend; things go downhill from there. The best example of the movie's "audacious imagery" is in which Rob is seen ejaculating while killing himself with a knife.
Make your conclusions about the movie although I hardly think it can be compared to the comedy 'Weekend at bernies'.

That's my favorite part of the review! Lucky that things hadn't gone downhill before the job was lost. ;)

I have done a search for what I want and no result. I need to know if there is somewhere I can download a copy of the guide. I want to compile one exercise DVD made of clips from several. BUT, I cannot figure out how to do this. The guide would be helpful, I think.
I am not on internet at home where I have this software, so I cannot just simply logon and read it online.
can anyone help me here? maybe someone has it who would send it to me.
thanks

@lldvd
Hi!
Use the "Re-author" mode to load in each DVD and select the clips you want
