View Full Version : Question about W-Modul & H-Modul

To minimize Aspect Error without cropping away a lot of image, I usually set W-Modul to 4 and H-Modul to 2.
Everything works fine and the resulting avi can be played without any problem, but I'd like to know if resolutions wth a "non-multiple of 32" width and a "non-multiple of 16" height (the default GK values for W-Modul and H-Modul) can cause problems with some players.

Actually it's a non-multiple of 16 (either H or W) that might cause problems, but usually only with DivX. I believe the default of 32 is just to reduce the number of slider stops within the program.

Just to be sure, are there the same problems if I use XviD?

Well, you lose compressibility with less than Mod16 resolutions since MPEG-4 is encoded in blocks of 16x16 pixels. In any event, I highly recommend that neither the height not the width be less than Mod16.
