Hello,
I've been having a problem lately...I like to backup my DvD's to my hard drives for future viewing(100gigs so no problemo). Ok here's the thing: I have a MT1316 BDV212B 0.26 10x lowend DvD drive. The thing is...I can play a region 1 dvd just fine...say Simpsons Season 1. Ok here's the trouble spot...I use PowerdvdXP 4.0, and instead of loading the flick off a DvD, I use Smartripper 2.40 to place it on the drives. When I load the video.ts file through Powerdvd, it instead of bringing up the usual introduction screen it loads an image blurred in the background of 20th centry fox, and in the foreground is the text which reads "THIS DISC IS NOT FORMATTED TO PLAY IN THIS REGION." What's also interesting is when playing off the disc, I go to Configure/Information, the player info is as follows:
Player Region Code: 1
Current Focus Drive: E:
Title Region Code: 1

Then when loading the decrypted files from the drive it reads:
Player REgion Code: Not Specified
Current Focus Drive: *:
Title Region Code:

If anyone could please supply me with any thoughts they may have concerning this issue, I would be extremely greatful =)
Thank you in advance, I'm brand new to posting ;)

I'm doing the same thing as you (but using ATI 4.1 DVD player), and I got the same Region error message too. I'm anxiously waiting for a solution from someone, please.

in Smartripper 2.40 I tried both unchecked of Region Free and checked, neither worked. My drive is set to Region 1, the program is set to Region 1, but when loading up off the hd it does as described above.

Just used SmartRipper 2.41 to rip "Planet of the Apes" (2001) and "Moulin Rouge." Ripping was successful but both will not play from hard drive using ATI 4.1 DVD player due to Region problems, both are Fox DVDs. Is there something going on with Region compatibility in newer DVDs?
