I really learning to love VobBlanker ... a lot. I've been using it for several months now to blank out extras but in my backup of the movie Madagascar, I wouldn't have been able to achieved what I wanted without Vobblanker. What I wanted was ...
Customized Motion Menu with Main Movie w/ac3 6-channel audio (no video compression) and five extras w/ac3 audio (with slight video compression).
Here's what I did ...
(1) Ripped with DVDDecryter w/AnyDVD
(2) Open DVD with TDA ... selected main movie w/ac3 6-channel audio and fives extras with w/ac3 2-channel audio ... all on separate tracks
(3) Authored with customized menus ...
(4) Burned ... everthing seemed good ... except the audio for the main-movie wasn't there ... was there for all the extras ... first time this has happen to me using TDA ... so ... no matter what I tried TDA saw the audio but wouldn't accept that track or any other for that matter (e.g., 2-channel ac3)
(5) Used DVDDecryter in IFO mode to rip the main movie 6-channel ac3 audio track
(6) Added that track to my TDA project ... in the edit screen audio and video were in sync ... tested it at the end of the movie
(7) Authored ... audio and video were badly out of sync at the end of the movie
.... So ... after much trail & error ... came up with this approach ...
(8) Used DVDShrink on the ripped movie (only after going through VOBBlanker) to produce main movie + desired audio track (DVDShrink would only work on this title after processing through VOBBlanker)
(9) Used Vobblanker on TDA output to replace main movie (the one which went badly out of sync) with the one produced by DVDShrink (which was in sync)
(10) Also, I then used DVDShrink again on the output to shink the extras a small amount (85+% compression setting ... leaving the menu & main movie at no compression)
(11) Finally ... desired result ... tested on my TV it using a DVDRW ... got the result I wanted, which was a Customized DVD Backup with ...
(A) motion menu w/"Move It" Music video in 360x240 window
(B) main movie + ac3 6-channel audio
(C) Penguin Chat + Christmas Caper + Movie It Video + Animation Video + Enchanted Island Extras
Given the tools and knowledge that I had, the thing that made this possible was the ability to replace one titleset with another using VOBBlanker. My compliments to the author.
