Gday, i'v got autoGk 2.20 and the one thing i always hated about it was the INSISTANCE on using removegrain.
One day i was messing around the beta version and installing unstable xvid builds etc and somehow happened across a setup where removegrain was not used anymore.
I can't recall the exact combination of builds that gave me this scenario thou. Anyhow, all was good for a time being but then a while ago (with out installing any new builds) Removegrain is slipping itself into the scripts again.
I really dislike this filter. I'v since tried removing the filters from the filter directory but AutoGK detects them not being there and refuses to start.
Can anyone suggest what i might have done to disable it in the 1st place or what i can do to disable now?

IIRC, v1.70 b is where UnDot got replaced by RemoveGrain. So you need the one before that - which would be v1.60.
The official site doesn't offer it anymore for download, so Google is your friend now. I found this (http://www.agrreviews.com/modules/mydownloads/singlefile.php?lid=17283) link, see if it works for you. Else, do some searching on your own - some download site might have it.
FYI - There is no way you can disable it from the current builds.

like i said. I was using 2.20, not 1.7. I don't know how it happened but autogk just wasn't using the removegrain filter.
I heard that autoGK won't use this filter if it doesn't detect SSE. I have a P4 2ghz so i know i have SSE.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how it may have been that autoGK perhaps thought i didn't have SSE?

welp, i just did a reinstall of the os, thought since i use my modded xbox for watching all my vids, i might downgrade to windows 2000 for a change.
put on service pack 4, put on all the critical updates, put on latest nvidia drivers, directx 9c and again, autogk 2.20. And Tada, autogk no longer wants to use removegrain.
Any suggestions on what i did ? I used to have it like this in XP as well, so i know its not an issue restricted to windows 2000

AFAIK, SSE is not something which gets enabled or disabled at the OS level, but at the CPU level. You need to check your BIOS to see if it has an option for disabling SSE/SSE2/SSE3 instructions like below:

And if you disable SSE, then regardless of the OS you use, RemoveGrain won't be used. But, IMO, disabling SSE is a big price to pay for not using a single AVISynth filter since it will also affect the other tools involved in the encoding chain like XviD encoder, VirtualDubMoD etc (they all detect and use SSE).
If you can learn to use GordianKnot, then you can use the filters you like and still have SSE.

...and have better encodes than from AutoGK (No offense, len0x). It's not such a bad learning curve, even though it can be a bit overwhelming when you first dive in.
