View Full Version : burning clips from multiple DVDs to one DVD - with chapters

Hi all -

I am trying to make a single DVD using clips from several DVDs. I saw a lot of suggestions in another thread (basically using DVDShrink can do it all - almost).

I can use DVDShrink (or DVDDecrypter + ChopperXP) to make my VOB clips. Then I can use DVDShrink Reauthor mode to create one DVD. The problem I have with this last part is that it creates each clip as its own title, instead of making each clip a chapter. I tried loading my new DVD into PowerDVD, and I cannot hit "Next" to go to the next chapter - I have to switch titles on the title menu.

I don't need any menu screens or anything fancy, but I do want to be able to create chapters so I can easily use this with a set top box/remote. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks,
Dave

Hi!

If I understand what you've described correctly, when you say, "I can use DVD Shrink to make my VOB clips", you are using DVD Shrink to create several separate DVD "packages" (.IFOs, .BUPs, and .VOBs).

If ALL of the .VOBs in these DVD "packages" have identical video and audio attributes, I'll "tout" the following:

You can use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" to join them as ONE TITLE (Select "Add file", NOT "Add new track"). You can obtain a FULLY functional free 30 day trial version of this commercial program at:

www.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/tda.html

Please note that if ANY of the .VOBs have different video or audio attributes, they'll have to be separate TITLES...

I'll "tout" two other commercial programs will also allow you to join the .VOBs into one TITLE (with the same video and audio attributes) - DVD2One and DVD95Copy.

None of the programs I've mentioned require any in-depth, technical knowledge regarding DVD structure and processing. As with any suggestion I make regarding software that I use, I've suggested these three programs for one reason - they work ;>}

setarip_old,

thank you for your post. This is exactly the info I needed.

So basically, I have to match 4:3 ratio type video with others of the same ratio, or 16:9 with other 16:9. And with audio, I have to match 2-ch with 2-ch, and 6-ch with 6-ch.
Or are there other more refined concepts of audio and video that must match?

I am hoping its that simple :) Either way, I will try it out soon.

Thanks,
Dave
