I backed up this dvd. rented from Netflix. using dvddecrypter ver 3.5.4.0 in iso mode. put it on virtual dvd player w/ daemon tools then used dvd shrink to encode and burn. No problem. Could the fact that the dvd wasn't a new out of the box version thereason I was able to back it up ?

Why would anybody go out of his/her way to bother posting that the DVD is RENTED?

The same question/statement could have quite readily been asked/made without any reference to a rental...

Probably because they didn't realize it was an issue. Fact is, probably 99.9% of all newbies that post in a forum for the first time have never read the rules and go with what seems reasonable to them. I'm not making excuses, just telling it like it is. Most people would rather read what's in the forum threads instead of bothering to read the rules, which, instead of being consistent from forum to forum, vary all over the place due to the subject matter being discussed (e.g., what's wide open for discussion in one forum may be totally taboo in a similar forum). If it were a perfect world then everyone would read the rules when they first get here and everyone would be happy. However, in the real world, newbies will post what they want, those that know better will flame the heck out of them, and life will go on as we know it.
