Where Do I Begin?

I hope this is the right forum to post this.

I'm totally new to the DVD scene and I would welcome help and advice about how I begin to download movies and save them to a DVD.

I have just installed a Pioneer DVR-110 in my pc and have also installed Nero 7, Grabit, RatDVD, and VLC Media Player. I know that I have to suscribe to such as GigaNews, but I have no idea how to start. I also have a DVD player that will play DivX and various other formats.

Is there a guide that will show me where to start?
