Rejig 0.5f

well for my 2000th post i had hoped to release Rejig 0.6 alpha. however some of the newer features proved to be just too unstable or failed under certain circumstances. so instead i bring you Rejig 0.5f. hope thats good enough. :D

changes include -
.Makiras last "new engine" update, with slightly tweaked settings.
.redesigned ifo mode window.
.some small tweaking to old engine aswell.

if i get time further down the track i may add in more changes to eventually make a 0.6 release. dont know if/when that will be though, look how long this took to be released. ;)

WARNING! please do NOT ask Nic questions about this release. he has told me he is far to busy with real life and is not going to answer questions about something he hasnt worked on for so long. so please dont even bother.

I am probably not the only one who thought that Rejig was dead, I'm sure glad I was wrong. But I am curious about the tweaks you made. The Readme does not really help a lot.

For 0.5e the general consensus was that while the "new" engine had some theoretical advantages, in real world situations the "old" engine delivered better quality. Do your and Makira's tweaks change this?

And another question I wanted to ask for a long time: I always liked to use Rejig for DVD authoring because it is very forgiving. But I never succeeded in adding chapters. Rejig can import a chapter text file, but so far all my authoring attempts came out with no chapters at all (but no error messages). What is the correct format for a chapter file for Rejig?

Its a wery nice and easy to use prog. Ive used rejig 5e DVD authoring. Which works fine.

What is the correct format for a chapter file for Rejig?
Well, after a few tests I can answer this question myself: The chapter file has to consist of frame numbers, time values will not work. The required format is the same as for MuxMan.

the new engine is a refinement over the last new engine. that is it works in a similar way lets say. the tweaks i did were to its default handlings. that is i found the treatment of I and P frames harsh so i have toned them down. try Rejig 0.5e new engine against 0.5f new engine and old engine on an m2v at say 70% and you should see some differences i think. :)

it works ok with Firefox 1.5RC2. sorry i dont use Opera so no way for me to know it would cause any problems. so when you pressed the links what exactly happened ? it should have gone to another page where it says "To begin your download, Click Here", did you get that ?

EDIT: i may change sites eventually but for now that serves ok for what it is. as you can see i havent exactly gone all out on web design. ;)

i should make clear its only being worked on by me. yes i do have changes Nic made that were never released but as i said some are not stable which is why i did not add them. this is also why Nic shouldnt be asked about this or any future versions i release.

yes that one of the things that is not in 0.5f. while it is indeed nice when it works it isnt when it gets stuck at 99% and freezes Rejig up. ;)

he may never finish it. whe last i spoke to Nic he had no plans to return to Rejig anytime soon, if ever.

maybe but not anytime soon. i, like most people it seems, am very busy at the moment and most likely will be until after christmas. with the free time i do get i am trying to work on other things aswell such as QuEnc and Rejig is pretty low on the priority list at the moment. i just wanted to do something special for my 2000th post and thought people may find an updated Rejig nice. ;)

I found that for DVD Author, when I import let say 3 audio streams, when I set an audio delay 500ms for stream 3, and when I click back to stream 2 or stream 1, the audio delay field is still 500ms instead of 0ms, but the output file is right (stream 3 has 500ms delay, stream 1 & 2 has no delay). It is quite confusing when we were going to set different delay for different stream (audio delay field should be changed according to which audio stream is being clicked). Hope you could fix it, thank you very much.

I've just used Rejig for one project. I like that it's a level of abstraction above IFOedit and VOBedit, so I don't have to get into those hairy data structures, but can extract "streams", and importantly, combine them in in the authoring module (e.g., SUP subtitles).

One bug to report: since it has no obvious way to save "projects", I just left the Author module open after creating a DVD and rebuilt a SUP file, then pressed "create" again to try the new version (the same fileset, at least as far as names go). It immediately exited. I did this a couple of times, so it wasn't me pressing the "exit" button in error.

I see rejig can be executed from the commandline. This it very wise. I have about two thousand MPEG2 files from which I want to demux the audio track (AC3). I don't want to demux them one by one when I run rejig and click on "File mode". Rather I want to write a batch file of 2000 lines, you know what I mean?

I just don't know the parameters to write into the command line. Is there any help on rejig? I hope those command line parameters mentioned in the readme is not all the program can do from a command line.

Yes, thanks for the advice. I have found DGIndex, which I have been using in GUI for years, has a command line interface aswell. And all necessary things are neatly described in the help html.

Now I have written a 2000-(Total Commander and Regular Expressions rulez)-line batch file and DGIndex is already busy demuxing those files.
