View Full Version : Incorrect time distribution on CD Image files

I'd estimate about 1 in 10 DVD to SVCD conversions I do using QuEnc 0.61 encoder gets 1 of the 2 CD image file sizes too large to fit onto a CD. As a result the conversion is worthless and has to be discarded. I usually will convert a DVD to SVCD with the movie time distribution set for between 45 min to 65 min on each CD. This usually give good quality. I specify my CD size as 800 MB on the DVD2SVCD Bitrate tab. My CD image files are almost always 805 to 806 MB. The largest CD image file I've successfully burned on a CD is 807 MB.

Occasionally my CD image files will be CD 1 = 805/6 MB and the CD 2 = 809 MB. No Good !

I've tried all kind of different bit specifications for the various bitrate specifications on the bottom in the bitrate tab to no avail.

A workaround to this problem is to simply enter a smaller CD size in the bitrate tab. Instead of 800 MB I put 797 and that gave me a CD 1 image file size of 803 MB and a CD 2 image file size of 807 MB. That was cutting it a bit close. Might be safer to set the CD size to 796 MB.

Not a perfect solution, but pretty darn good anyway !

I figure I'm not the only one who ran into this. My little contribution.

Thanks for this forum and all the help and ideas.
