Transfer VHS to DVD.....please help a newbie!

I've got about 100 VHS movies that I want to transfer over to DVD but I haven't a clue how to do it. I know I need a video capture card and related software but that's all. Any ideas anyone and what is the best hardwrae/software to do it? Youre help would be most appreciated
