I just updated one of my PCs from Windows 98 to W2k and have found that SmartRipper will only rip at x2 when it used to rip up to about x9 on some dvd's. I have tested it with a dvd I know should rip fast but it still only rips at x2.
Does any one know how to fix this, as I have tried ForceASPI and that didn't help.

You must turn on DMA for DVD drive. Win2K normally does not it.

The problem is solved. I have it now ripping at x4-5 which is good enough for me, I had my DVD as my secondary device on the IDE channel. I then moved it to the primary and the speed then incressed. I know Win2k has a thing with HD that only the primary is auto UDMA, with the secondary set to PIO. So it might have something to do with that.

I think you might get better performance if you leave it on channel 2. Just change the setting to ultra-dma
My ripping speed *increased* when I went to win2k from win98. :D

I increase my stripping in WinXP from 4.5x to 7.5x by installing wnaspi32.dll in my system directory. You can get it from Nero here ftp://ftp.nero.com/wnaspi32.dll let me know if this works out for you.
