Just checking but has anybody else noticed that DVD-RB now takes much longer to process DVD's since 1.02 and the new improved bitrate optimiser
I'm not complaining about it if the end result is even better than before
If I do a full episode DVD with 1.01 it would take about 6-7 hours using CCE 3-pass, no filters
Now, a full episode DVD with CCE 3-pass, with 1.02, with no filters takes about 10-12 hours

Are you using the same DVD on your comparison?
If you aren't... you should :)

I think you are mistaken. There were no changes that would have affected the time it takes to handle a DVD. In fact -- the vast majority of the time taken is waiting for the encoder to complete. The actual time that a change to DVD-RB time might affect between versions would be limited to the 5-6 minutes for PREPARE and ~20 or so minutes for REBUILD.
As Rockas inferred... the time associated with an encode is determined by the total number of frames to be encoded and it can change dramatically from one disc to another.

No it wasn't the same DVD, but my episode DVD's were taking around 6-7 hours
Then again, one took 12 hours another one took 7 hours ..........
Whenever I do an episode DVD I increase CCE passes to 3, movie only I leave it at 2-passes
My strange thinking is as there is more to squeeze onto the DVD and there are multiple episodes not just one movie, it might give a better bitrate per episode
Also I've been fiddling with the VBR Bias, and set it to 10 for episode DVD's and 20 for movie only
Or am I wrong ... again
