Hey there,
I m currently workin on encoding a lil short (was a DVD extra) that has kinda low quality :(

my steps so far:

yatta (lots of freezframes :( )

then huffyuv 3 passes

1st
tweak(sat=1.2)
degrainmedian()
mipsmooth(preset="animeLQ")
convolution3d(preset="animeLQ")

2nd
AAA

3rd
mftoon
limitedsharpen

(i tryed all in 1 pass first but that gave me 0.3-0.4 fps and crashed vdub after 20% was done :D )

Well I m pretty pleased with the outcome except for that one lil scene (http://www.amadme.info/otd_CUT.VOB) with the gradient background that is givin me a big headache.

After filtering it looks kinda ok in huffyuv but in xvid it makes my eyes bleed :mad:

any suggestions on how to filter that? :thanks:in advance

Gradients don't mix well with MPEg compression. You'll get a posterizing (contouring) appearance. That's part of life when chroma is shared across blocks of pixels.
