Hello there,
I have got the abovementioned card (VIVO) and installed the Omega-Driver (latest version, 10/2005) and the ATI WDM Driver. Now I get preview in some of the different programmes I use for capturing (iuVCR/Ulead Video Studio), but the capture itself is just a green screen. :(
In VirtualVCR I get no preview at all, the screen is green from the start. Additionally, when I try to change settings in those programmes, the PC crashes on me, everytime.
I own a few commercial VHS I would like to back up, therefore the attempt to use Omega. Does this behaviour mean I have to switch back to the official ATI-drivers or did I miss some setting? With the ATI-drivers everything works fine, but the macrovision problem turns up...
Any help will be appreciated.

It sounds like all your problems may come from the Macrovision - you'll need to get an anti-Macrovision device to pre-process the video.

Thanks for the fast reply, but there is a slight misunderstanding: I get the green-captured screen, regardless of the source (non-macrovision-VHS, TV-channels through VCR by Composite-connector) -> my standard set-up. And only after having installed Omega-drivers. With ATI-drivers it's all ship-shape-fashion, but...
I was hoping for a solution without having to invest any extra money, since that is very scarce around here... :(

There's still some information you've omitted, for example the format in which you are capturing video, i. e. MPEG-2. If possible, list the video codecs you have installed (Right-click My Computer and select Manage, click Device Manager, expand "Sound, video and game controllers," right-click "Video codecs and select Properties, then click the Properties tab).

Sweet of you to worry about these aspects, but I have taken those into consideration, actually am at the whole thing for quite a time now.
Also, since my last post here I solved(!) the problem this way:
I un-installed the drivers and used DriverCleaner ( http://www.drivercleaner.net/ ) to remove any 'stray' *.dll-files.
Then I installed the Plutonium-driver from this Link: http://www.biline.ca/dl_files/plutonium_xp_81.exe
The Link is part of a very useful guide concerning ATI and Macrovision:
http://www.biline.ca/ati_macrovision.htm
Thanks anyway for your help! Good luck to anyone out there trying to cope with this dr...t business. :D
EDIT: Actually a little addition was necessary, as my final attempt today made clear. Those "TBCs" are useful and with this setup AND a small TBC got from the internet some time ago at a very reasonable price, I at last made a very fine back-up of one of my favourite movies. Usually the little box does its work very well, but some Macrovision-cases are really tricky, therefore the circuit...
Please note: I had to do the installation (s.a.), connect the TBC (from a company called LikSang or s.th., ~ 13,95 US$) and after capturing without trouble, do a little enhancement with AviSynth; encoding with Canopus ProCoder 2, burned a short test clip - :D results as good as the original setup!
