View Full Version : The Kingdom of Heaven Problem.......

Well as usual, i have the 'original ' disc so i need to make a safe copy of it.
The problem is with the subtitles after encoding it with dvdrebuilder. Whatever choice i make, subtitles are screwed up and never get the subs i want. If i open the vob files decrypted by dvddecrypter everything seems to be ok.
Has anyone else in the past faced the same problem with me?

btw i use the pro version

Thanks in advance for your replies....

Are the subtitles screwed or are the wrong ones playing. I suspect the latter. As RB uses the original sub pks i don't see how they can actually be bad - the wrong ones playing, now thats a possibility (unlikey though it is). Have you preprocessed with any other tool? What substreams are you removing, if any?

First time i chose only my mother language but the result was to get no subs at all. Second time , i have chosen english and greek but got only English. The 3rd time i chose all subs but english was applying to more than one subs.
I havent tryed dvdshrink yet as the quality will be must must worse!

Are you preprocessing in any way?

PGM

i tried 2 things....... First i used dvddecrypter to rip the disc and used dvdrebuilder to grab the things i want and encode...Secondly, i used the dvdshrink to take out from the disc main movie and greek subs and saved it uncompressed in order to process it with dvdreuilb.
Both ways failed unfortunately.....

I had a subtitle problem too...
Making "Movie Only" No compression... the subtitles are there but it is impossible to select them... after a pass with no compression on DVD Shrink... voilá... subtitles are there again.

The DVD is "Ladder 49" Region 2 :( - by the way... don't you hate when the good guys ... on the end?

EDIT: removed my "the buttler did it" from my OT comment :D

hi jdobbs,
i think this is for you about this problem:

kingdom of heaven, pal, italian version, dvd rebuilder checked movie only, cce sp2.7.

during rebuilding phase i have an error 0006 framecount diff. between prepare and rebuild phase.

the disc is sony(damn sony,,,the trouble maker!!!!), during first encoding i can see only my 5 steps (5 pass) of 1/1... but no 1/2, 1/3,1/4,1/5

so something is wrong here, but the rest of the encoding seems allright cuz i can see the 5 pass with no problem.

will try HC tonight...

edit: tried to load dvd with shrink, I have an error vts 01_08, the movie play fine on my pc only.is that a new arcos protection???....many pack header not found with dvd decrypter.

will try dvd lab and see if i can demux, reauthor, and compress.
my knowledge in dvd is pretty limited as my english is!!! so i dont know!
please let me know if u know a good software where i can join vob files...

jdobbs

It sounds like you have a corrupt source, since neither DVD-RB or Shrink could read it.. that's also pretty much the only way you could get 0006. One of the things that can cause it is a temporal reference to a frame that doesn't exist.

johnhamler1
4th November 2005, 13:08
no, i think it is a arcos thing, just passed the copied file in dvd fab decrypter and now shrink can read the movie.!!!
so i think tonight i will rerun your software, jdobbs, with cce 2.7 and I will report my result about kingdom of heaven.

jdobbs

Actually that just means that ARCOSS causes the corrupt source...

SamuriHL

It does. I used AnyDVD to rip that movie and I had some initial problems with it myself. After re-ripping it I had no problems with DVD-RB.

Actually that just means that ARCOSS causes the corrupt source...

I fully confirm the sentence.

The movie is copy protected [at least in the Italian release].

The protection scheme is based on the large presence into the title of cells that are actually fully referenced, but unreadable and never played (skipped through cell commands in other, regularly playable cells)...

Even after a successful rip, the bulk presence of cells without any meaningful video content lead to problems (missing pack headers in the VOBs, and other nasty disorders in the IFOs)...

It seems the protection is exactely designed in order to create troubles for applications (like DVD-RB) trying to read and reencode - or transcode - the whole set of cells in the DVD...

No point in feeding such sort of titles to DVD-RB without completely removing the protection, either manually, or with the help of some nice mating applications (PgcEdit + Arcoss Removal Plugin)...

...Funny times are arrived... Now the usage of Pre Processing Applications is not just suggested; into these situations it's really mandatory...

the disc is sony(damn sony,,,the trouble maker!!!!)

That's odd - The Region 1 version is a 20th Century Fox release, not SONY...

**EDIT** I just did a quick Googlesearch regarding the Region 2 version - and it's also noted (at Amazon UK) as a 20th Century Fox release:

"Release Information:
Studio: 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment
DVD Release Date: October 3, 2005
Run Time: 144 minutes

Edition Details:
• Region 2 encoding (Europe, Japan, South Africa and the Middle East including Egypt). Read more about DVD formats.
• PAL
• ASIN: B000A896J8
• Catalogue Number: 2953401000 "

As far as I know, 20th Century Fox does NOT avail itself to "ARccOS" copy protection...

I' m from Greece too, and i have the same problem with "Kingdom of heaven" and with "9 1/2 weeks" both Fox releases.
I use the same method for two of these DVD's.
Rip the disc with Dvd Decrypter 3.5.4.0, use RB 1.01 pro(movie only) and CCE 2.70.1.5, select only English audio and greek subs. The result in video and audio is perfect but the subs are missing. The Power DVD when play the movie inform tha the movie has greek subs, and the same inform the stand alone player.
I believe the problem is, in the authoring program which use FOX in latest releases, don't cooporetive with RBpro.
I said that, because i make these movies with other program (DVD2DVD-R). This program use CCE and Ifo Edit for authoring and i don't have any problem. (I use the same rip result of DVD Decrypter in two chases).
Sorry for my bad English ;)

Read you again,
Doliha

I got rid of this protection by passing the file in dvdfab decrypter after dvd decripter. did a 1:1 copy.then as usual, dvd rebuild, cce 2.70.

problem solved....

BTW, the movie may freeze during the first 5 seconds, just cut the first 30 seconds!!! and enjoy the show!!!!

Yes, just download DVDFab Decrypter and use it instead of DVD Decrypter. It's free.

hi there.
same subtitel problem here (German DVD).

i used the newest anyDVD and dvddecrypter (no problems). when i play this rip everything is fine with the subs but when i use dvd_reb to make a dvd-5 (movie only, cce2.7 sp) i have a dvd with subs to select but the filesize of the subs is 0MB (5MB on the rip and original) and its shown nothing on my screen :(

i must say that shrink an recode works.. but i want dvd_reb :(

any tips for this damn problem?

jdobbs

Have you selected subs for removal in the setup screen? If they aren't selected to be removed, DVD-RB copies them over intact...

Rockas
17th December 2005, 01:03
Well... as I said on another thread... something like that happened to me with the DVD "Ladder 49"... and I thought it was strange but in fact the subtitles "disappeared"... I made a test... runned the backup though DVD Shrink without compression and voilá... the subtitles were there again :)

I think I still have the IFO file of main movie... do you want it jdobbs?

Rockas
17th December 2005, 01:10
Oh! by the way... I used "Movie Only" on that one.

used movie only an it doesnt matters ... english + german , only english or only german.

they arent there.

on dvd decrypter rip

english 5MB
german 5MB
german story sub 1MB

using dvd_reb on this dvd decrypter rip =

english 0MB
german 0MB
german stroy sub 0MB

damn i want the subs on my dvd-r

jdobbs
19th December 2005, 20:02
No idea as yet. I've run hundreds of discs and have never lost a sub that wasn't selected for removal... I would have guessed that they weren't subs, but were Closed Captioning instead... but that's not likely for three streams...

What are you using to report the size of the subs?

nemesiz

dvd shrink and nero recode show me the filesize of 5Mb 5Mb and 0 Mb.

with my rebuilder rip i can select them but its shown nothing.. and when i load this rip with shrink it shows me 0mb on each subtitel file

It looks from your INI file that you only have one subpicture selected for keeping of six possible (across all VTSs). The only one selected is the first.

Hi!
(Region 2 disc, movie only)

I only want to keep 3 subs, 2 eng and 1 swe

This is what I get in ifo edit

Orginal disc

SubPic 1: Eng ID: 20
...
SubPic 7: Swe ID: 26
SubPic 8: Eng ID: 27

Backup disc

SubPic 1: Eng ID: 20
SubPic 2: Swe ID: 20
SubPic 3: Eng ID: 20

So in the backup they all got id 20, hope this helps u folks solving the problem.

(dunno if I can change the ids in Ifo Edit)

Edit: The subs are there but the ids are wrong if u use PgcDemux to demux the backup and then Muxman to put it back then the subs are there and working again.

Edit2: If u got colour problems on the subs (CoNS wrote) Try this: Load the original DVD in PgcEdit and locate the main movie PGC. Export the colour lookup table (CLUT) for that PGC. Load the newly muxed/authored DVD in PgcEdit and import the CLUT.

Are the streams showing incorrectly in VTSI_MAT, the PGC (under VTS_PGCITI), or both?

My files are deleted by now sorry, I got the info from the VTS overview in IfoEdit only.
