I'm sorry to ask such a lame question but am I the only one thats NOT been able to download the new release of DVD-RB?

I've been trying for over 3 hours without success.
It says it cannot connect to jdobbs.net.
I did get the REBUILDER.RBK file however. That one worked

Many thanks in advance

I just tried it and it works fine... I got about 2Mbs download speed. Are you sure there isn't a problem on your end?

jdobbs,

I just replied to your email you sent me regarding the updated program.
Could you please verify that it works from your end? Maybe the address
is incorrect in my mail? just fishing here.
I'm so sorry to bother you with this.

Thanks all who responded.
All I get is that the serveur your trying to reach is unavailable.
I don't know why the >RBK file works fine

Thanks again

I cut the address in your notification and pasted it into IE -- and it started downloading immediately.

[Added] I just tried it again by just clicking on the link... It downloaded in less than 30 seconds (and it's not being hosted on my local site).

while for this and the last release i have the exact opposite problem. that is i can download Rebuilder fine but cant connect to the key file. :)

i got around it by using an anonymiser web page. that is a site where you enter the page(or file) you want to view and it uses its own proxy instead of yours. i got the key that wway no problems.

If you have norton security or some other such program enabled, try disabling it and then try downloading from the link in email again.

that's cause jdobbs.net is down

SamuriHL

No it's not. I just this very second got to it.

yes i just downloaded both just before i posted so they are bot up and running.

i also have nothing new running that would suddenly block the key files link either. just one of those weird things. :)

Wow thanks all for your responses
It only frustrates me even more now. I seem to be the only one :(
I still am NOT able to download the program but the
key file downloads NO PROBLEM.
Everything works here. I build computers as a side living.
I'm sure nothing's wrong here on my 4 computers.
I tried through evry one. It must be something to do with
my IP provider for now. I have no choice to wait.
I'll try again tomorrow :(

Thanks again to all for trying to help

The key file comes from a different server at a different address...

If you don't get it tomorrow, send me an e-mail at dvd-rb@dvd-rb.com and I'll put a copy on the keyfile server... it won't be very fast, but maybe it'll work.

Server will be busy more than likely will all the traffic as everybody rushes to update there version

I get this error now and then on some sites I use, just try later when the traffic has died down a bit

Or use a download manager like FlashGet and let it keep trying for you, this works for me as well

@DD51:
Just got the same problem with the ZIP-file too. The download stalled at 40%. Tried again after 5 mins, and it then worked fine... Had no problem with the RBK file.

Testing the new build now

@DD51
Are you using some kind of "Download Manager"?
I'l asking this 'cause I use "Flash Get" and it failed to download my copy... then I used IE and it worked fine.

Hello all,

I finally got the file and this is how I managed to get it.
BTW It still does NOT work for me trying to get it directly.

Howto:
1. Installed a program called "HideIP" v1.75 ;)
2. Launched the program and it landed me an IP in Mexico.
(only works with internet explorer)
3. Launched IE and my google home page was now in Mexico
4. Copy and pasted the file from the email into IE
5. Download started immediately

So I now have the new RB and I'm very happy to finally have it.

Many, many thanks to all for all of your help.
A special thanks to jdobbs for wanting to go the extra mile so I can get the file. (thank you jdobbs)
and
a special thanks to dragongodz for giving me the idea of going through a different IP. (thank you dragongodz)

Kind regards,

why would you need to hide your ip?

Being my first post, though I've been coming here for more than a year, jdobbs I want to congratulate you for a great prog that, for me, always worked without a problem.

And now to say that I face the same problem. I only could get the RBK file, not the program files. The trick of the "HideIP" didn't work for me.
Hope somebody can find out what's happening. :)

Hi
Well I didn't get my email with a link at all this time... Are you still sending them out or is something wrong?

(thanks for the great program, BTW, Mr. Dobbs!)

I can assure you that every single DVD-RB VIP was mailed a notification for the new link. I am very, very careful about that. Even when a delivery failure notice is received, the message is then retried through two other mail domains before it would be filed as a dead address.

But, frankly, that is almost never the problem. So far almost 100% of the reports of non-delivery (which are few) have been caused by the implementation of anti-SPAM measures on the destination (by either the service provider or the individual). I truly don't think most people understand how poorly most anti-SPAM software works -- and how many e-mails that they actually want are being thrown away as "junk". I keep meticulous logs and actually record the SMTP conversation in which the far-end service provider accepts the e-mail for delivery... so there really isn't a lot of doubt as to the cause.

If you ever fail to receive your notification -- first check your SPAM or junk folders. If you still can't find it, send a request for redelivery to dvd-rb@dvd-rb.com.

Don't know what happened, because I didn't change any settings in my compueter, but as part of my daily routine, I just tried to download the programs and in this occasion I could do it.

I repeat, great job you're doing, jdobbs. Thank you

Just a quick UPDATE today, OCTOBER 31st.

I tried the link again today...IT WORKS!

I haven't got the slightest idea why but today it works WITHOUT changing my IP address. (talk about weird!)

Thanks again jdobbs...DVD-RB is just simply "AWESOME"

I think the web hosting provider must have had some issues yesterday and the day before... great timing, eh?

Thankyou for your prompt and excellent service, Sir! It was indeed a spam protection issue my end....I'd forgotten that I'd recently upgraded Thunderbird, hence it's bayesian filter needs some 're-education'!
