View Full Version : Newbie trying to use AVIsynth

Hi,
I am trying to burn AVI files to DVD for viewing. These are Fansub Anime files with subtitles. I am using Nero Burning Rom and I also have WinMPG Video Convet available to me.
The problem I have is that the subtitles are usually written below the TV sweet spot and get at least partially cut off. The solution seems to be to add a border around the picture. I have a program called FitCD that allows me to do that. It uses an Avisynth script. The problem is that while WMP and just about any other player works with the script perfectly, the script does not work with Nero at all. I will have the first frame image and then the image goes black. I tried converting the AVI file through WinMPG Video Convert first a variety of ways so that Nero wouldn't have to deal with the script, with mixed results.
Using the script: First I tried AVI to MPG1, it crashes after a couple of minutes. I then tried AVI to MPG1 no script, then MPG1 back to AVI with script. That worked and would play on WMP OK but when I tried to encode it the video on the preview looked choppy, although the audio played OK. I tried to encode anyway. Nero went through the whole encode process and then crashed when it tried to burn it. The conversions also made the file monsterously large. I then tried WinMPG Video Convert AVI to Divx using the script. It converted OK this time but when I tried to burn it, the results were the same.
I'm about out of ideas on this. Any help would be appreciated. If there is a simpler process to solve the "sweet spot" dilemma I am all ears.

Sounds like forum rule 6 material to me. Where did you get these animes?

People tape them from TV in Japan and translate with subtitles. They are not for sale or Ebay. Noone makes money on them and they are not available in the United States commercially. Thanks for your help!

Not available on Ebay? There's probably more bootleg anime on Ebay than the real thing.

As far as I can see, this discussion is a violation of forum rule 6. Thread closed. Discuss it with Doom9 if you disagree.
