Read in a post somewhere that an .mpeg2 file could be renamed VTS_01_1.VOB , and IFOEdit would create IFOs and BUPs , enabling to burn
this .mpeg to DVD.

Is this correct ? I've tried several times, and first received error message in
German. Tried with another .mpeg movie file, and "finished correcting vobu pointers" message appeared, followed by "There is no TimeMap table--skipping Tmap Table creation". Clicking OK leads to prog crash // Send Error dialog.

Any idea what I could be missing. Not yet a user (success-wise) of IFOEdit and what it can do for me.

Demux the video and the audio.
Open IfoEdit 0.971 and in the menu bar select "DVD Author".
Then in the boxes, select the .m2v file and the audio file from your hard drive.
Set the output destintion and click "Ok".

You can download and use the program MuxMan. The current free version is 0.14g.

Your MPEG-2 file must be DVD-compliant. Among other things, audio MUST be 48,000Hz, resolution must be one of the following: 720x480, 720x576, 352x240, or 352x288.

To make certain that your MPEG-2 is DVD-compliant, load it into either "TMPGEnc" (Different than "TMPGEnc DVD Author") and select the DVD "wizard"/template...

Thanks for "rapid-response" team. Ha. I generally always capture my VHS to mpgDVD compliant, but I'm not certain about this short segment I had been tinkering with. It was only about 7Mb, which shouldnt matter in my test situation, me thinks.
To get to my errors mentioned above , I used the "OPEN" button , found the renamed mpeg2 file (now .VOB). Then from the drop-down menu at top of IFOEdit, I selected create new IFOs.
Before reading these posts, I saw the "CREATE IFO" button. I started with that, then selected the .VOB and destination. This time it worked fine....BUT,
when I used DVDShrink just as a sort of tester app., it told me there was a problem (forget?).....which brings us back to perhaps this was not truly an mpegDVD-compliant file.
I'll try advice given. Thanks

Ok , I made an mpgDVD-compliant file of about 66Mb. I used "Create IFOs"
button in IFOEdit. It created the IFOs and BUP files. Windows Media Player
played it fine , though contols were stuck, even volume.
Again , as a test of sorts , I tried to open this set of files with DVDShrink.
It again noted that it failed to open the "VTS_01_1.VOB" file ?? Why would that be ?
Also , by VOB to DVD burner app. would not play the files in its small viewer window. I did not try to burn the files , as its only a few minutes clip.
