View Full Version : DVD-RB does not blank "extra" PGCs in "Movie and Menu Only" mode

Hi. I am still trying to backup the Animatrix. After spending two full days trying to backup the entire disk (The sound on VTS 02 never worked), I gave up and decided to ignore VTS 02. I want to backup VTS 01 only without transcoding it (as the main VTS takes up about 4.23 GB with all menus and sound). Now, no matter what I do, DVD-RB is trying to include VTS 02 in the compilation.

I have done everything properly-I blank out unwanted PGCs in VTS 01, blank out all PGCs in VTS 02, press "Save changes" and continue to encode (which takes about a second) and "rebuild". It never works. VTS 02 without the sound is still getting included in the destination directory. Even if I choose "Movie and Menu only" with the one-click mode, this still happens.

Is there any settings file that I can manually edit to force DVD-RB into blanking out the unwanted PGCs (in the three-click mode)?

What do I do? Please help. Thanks.

i think you want no compression mode

hit prepare

then blank everything you want and then hit rebuild

If you select "No Compression" or "ReJig" -- you cannot use "Movie and Menus Only" or "Movie, Menus, and Slideshow Extras". The reason is that in order to create a blank replacement for a segment, you have to encode it.

rohangc,

You can try vobblanker for this

Yes, I want to do exactly this. I did just that but it won;t work. I hit prepare. I have to hit encode (although it doesn't do anything) and only then will the rebuild button become accessible.

In that case, I have an idea. Please tell me if it will work. Last night, I transcoded everything and I still have the blank (re-encoded) VTS 02 file with me. What if I hit prepare with no compression, replace the demuxed VTS 02 with the blank VTS 02 files from my previous session and 'rebuild' it? Will it work or will it blow up the DVD player? Please lemme know jdobbs.

Thanks, I did not know something like this existed. If all else fails, I will try this.

Please lemme know jdobbs.Yes, if I understand you correctly. You'd do it like this:

1. Do PREPARE and ENCODE using "No Compression". Encode should take almost no time at all.
2. Replace all the files starting with "V02" in the D2VAVS directory with the ones from your encoded run. That includes .AVS, .FLG, .M2V, and .VAF (if present).
3. Do a REBUILD.

Try it... if it chokes, try replacing the REBUILDER.INF with the one from the full encode as well and REBUILD.

Thanks guys. For some reason, I tried vobblanker first and it worked (Thanks blueboyec). Hence, I didn't try the other method I thought of. Thanks for the help everyone, especially jdobbs for creating such a wonderful program.
