Hey guys,

I've been having a problem backing up the movie "White Noise". I have the latest DVD-RB version. I am also using DGDECODE.DLL along with CCE V. 267.
Once I complete the back-up and view the movie, every minute or so the movie will have choppy moments. I've used different versions of dvd-rb, and the problem still arises.

Could anyone tell me what's going on? Do I need to re-download/install anything?

Thanks

I did White Noise but I didn't notice any problems.

Can you state specifically what times the video gets choppy or if anything funny happens to the time counter? I'll look back if you can give times for a few of the repeatable problems. Verify if it is always at the same times. If it is just every minute or so and it depends on where you start playing, there's not much point in me checking.

Are you using a Sony by any chance?

latest pro or free?

1. only use the latest dvd-rb
2. only use the recommend dgdecode.dll (NOT the newest).. see the sticky. newer dgdecodes do not work
3. reinstall using the installer.
4. is playback choppy on pc or standalone?

As JP asked is it on the setk top player or computer or both?

If you still have the copy on the hard drive does it get choppy when playing from the hard drive?

When you say choppy do you mean you get microblocks then the picture freezes for a second?

Have you tried re-burning using another brand of media?

The entire video is choppy. In other words, the picture freezes for a second..moves.. then freezes. I have used various DGDECODE.DLL's and they all seem to do the same thing. I must have gotten them all mixed up now. I'll have to locate the one in the sticky as recommended.

I'll keep u all updated

well thats part of problem,

only 1 dgdecode is approved for dvd rebuilder , the one in the sticky

you can also try NAN's version its in a recent thread

You may want to uninstall RB and use rockas's installer.

So they say, but I have never used the installer and I haven't run into a problem.

@Thresh
Check the versions with the "Help - Show Versions" menu in DVDRB... just to be sure of your setup.

Make sure you don't have a DGDECODE.dll in your AviSynth plugins folder. If you do, it will load automatically. The dll selected in DVD-RB setup should take priority, but something could go wrong.

Here's (http://forum.doom9.org/attachment.php?s=&postid=613629) the recommended file. But do try NaN's build too.

Here's an update.

It's still not working. I re-downloaded the newest free version of Rebuilder.. Downloaded the recommended DGDECODE.dll and placed it in it's proper folder and used CCE 2.67.

Not only does it become choppy when viewing the movie on PowerDVD, but DVDRebuilder actually never completes the entire process. It abruptly halts at 98.7% everytime, no matter how many passes I select.

So what gives? I have no idea why this particular movie (White Noise) is giving me so many problems.

Any other ideas?

if dvdrb halts it isnt done.. no wonder its choppy

use the installer

only after you have done that, if it still doesnt work, then post.

Use the installer? I have. I have followed all the appropriate steps to install RB and the necessary componenets. I thought I may have needed to reinstall AVI-Synth, which I did, but RB STILL freezes at 98.5%

Maybe I'm missing the boat on 'using the installer'

I hope someone could clarify!
Thanks

well if you are "downloading dgdecode.dll" you didnt use the installer.

What region of "White Noise" are you attempting? I did the Region 1 version back when it was first released -- no problems at all.

ThanksThere is a single executable that installs DVD-RB and all required components in one step. The old way of installing each of the components is not recommended -- too many opportunities for mistakes. The most recent filenames are DVD-RB_V1.01Pro.exe (Pro) and DVD-RB_v9.85Free.exe (freeware). Is that what you used?

I just wiped everything from my pc and reinstalled using the executable dvdrb file (which I have done before). I may have made the mistake by canceling the window on installation which prompted me to select the appropriate CCE. That's where my mistake may have been?

I'm running it right now, i'll see how it goes over night. Wish me luck!

Here's another update.

I just tried removing everything and reinstalling everything, however, it still freezes! I even used an older version of RB (.90) with the same old settings and that freezes.
I wonder if I should re-format and start this all over. I'm really confused!

Thanks

UPDATE:

I removed everything and re-installed all the software and things seem to be running smoothly. My only issue is that if I keep the previews, or any material played before the dvd-menu appears, and run it through RB, those parts are choppy and not the movie.

For example, on the movie 'House of Wax' the previews have the little character from 'Tails of the Crypt' advertising some of his movies. This section is choppy and I dont know why. This does not affect the rest of the movie, so I just removed it with dvdremake.

Any thoughts why this would be occurring?

these are likely extras, you may be stealing too much bitrate from them
