I have some programmes and films on DVD RAM disks which I copied from the TV to my panasonic dvd recorder. I would like to keep them on DVD-R disks. I have a LG GSA 4040B drive in my PC. Two questions I have:
1 Am I doing anything illegal?
2 If it's not, how do I transfer RTAV files to my HD and then onto DVD-R disks.
I can't find anything in the guides that seem to cover RTAV files.

as long as you don't sell or distribute them it's legal, atleast for now it is, as for copying them I'm not to sure

It's probably best not to worry about the legality of it - for one thing, copyright laws vary a great deal between countries, for another, if it's illegal to keep recorded TV shows, I doubt it matters if they're being kept on DVD-RAM or -ROM. As Shinigami-Sama said, as long as you don't try to sell them, who will know or care?
For the other question, I don't know what an RTAV file is - Google results mostly say "Real-time audio video file." If it's equal to RealŪ media, there are a number of programs you can use to convert it to MPEG-2 or uncompressed AVI.

Hello alge66,
I confirm the idea of Shinigami-Sama & CWR03.
The copy is a dangerous ground.
But you can find information on this forum:
