hello my problem is the following..
I have a slight issue with 'leon/the professional"
i have blanked the french menus and the french extras such as the actors biographies and so on.. in powerdvd it works perfect it shows the english menu which was exactly what I wanted but when I put the dvd in the standalone dvd player the menu isn't displayed.. if I press the 'menu' key it goes straight to the chapters.
I understand the dvd has as default the french menu as when I insert the original dvd on the player it's the french menu that appears..
maybe is the player ???
thanks

Use PgcEdit's Jump to PGC Upon DVD Insert macro. Guide on PgcEdit site.

Your menu displayed on your standalone is dictated by the SPRM(2), which is set from the preferred menu language on your player's options. I presume you have it set for French since you got blank menus showing. Set it for English and you'll see your English menus. ;)

Maybe your menu is authored with several Language Units (LUs). If there is a language unit for french, simply delete it with PgcEdit.

Select any PGC labelled with something like that in the PGC selector pane:
VTSM N, LU N (fr), N ...
(where (fr) means it's the french language unit, and N may be any number.)
Then, use "Menu -> Remove LU".

You may have to repeat this operation on all titlesets with a french LU, and on the VMGM.

If your DVD is authored with only one default LU, then search for "sprm(2)" in all PGCs, and edit the commands to replace the sprm(2) by the constant value 25966. (You can type 'en , with the first quote, in the input field.) This way, the DVD will react exactly as if the player is configured for english menus.

Please try what I advised. It will work for you, irrespective of how your player is setup.

Please try what I advised. It will work for you, irrespective of how your player is setup. Not sure. This method will not work if there are several LUs. The current LU is always used, regardless of the VM commands.

Also, if there is only one LU, the Jump2PGC method works for sure the first time the menu is entered. But we cannot be sure that the sprm(2) will not be checked again. This may lead to a french menu later. Though it's probably not the case, it's theorically possible.

hi,
I have never used pgcedit before
but I have deleted all the LU that had 'fr on them... I'll let you know how it goes.. I didn't manage to make the macro.. the instructions aren't detailed enough..
how do I search for srpm(2) in all the pgc?
thanks again for your help :)

If there were french LUs in the DVD, you don't need to use the other methods. Just be sure to delete all LUs except one. For example, if there are 3 LUs, you should leave only the english one, or the default LU (noted "(--)"), or your player may choose another one.
Then, burn the DVD. I'm confident it will work!

BTW, the easiest way to remove the VOB cells used by the LUs you don't want is to remove the LUs in PgcEdit, then process the menus with VobBlanker. You don't need to mark any cell for blanking in VobBlanker: Since the cells used by the removed LUs are now unreferenced in the IFOs, VobBlanker will remove or blank them anyway. Just select the Process Menu option (you should deselect the Process Titles option, to speed up the processing), and select Use Input Folder, then click "PROCESS!!".
However, in your present case, it may be useless to process the menus again with VobBlanker, since you have already blanked the french cells. To verify that, just load the DVD in VobBlanker, and see if the Final value is less than the Initial value. In this case, it is useful to process the DVD again.
