.kkapture (http://www.farb-rausch.de/~fg/kkapture/) is exactly what I've been waiting for for a very long time. It allows perfect non-realtime capturing of direct3d and opengl sources, which is an enormously great thing for demos (non interactive realtime 3d presentations).
Since ryg is currently quite busy it hasn't been updated in a long time and unfortunately no one has fixed some very important issues with the tool. It's great that the source code is available, since I'm able to post this thread :).
The biggest issue is the 4gb limitation for created AVI files. Also, it seems that if an AVI produced is over 2gb, the file's index can get corrupted. Furthermore, I've tried using x264 in lossless mode as well as lossy to capture, but it crashes (exists immediately with no error), same for encoding with encoders included in ffdshow.
Since I know pretty much nothing about coding, I'd be very grateful if someone who finds interest in this tool fixes some of the issues, especially the 4gb limitation.
