View Full Version : DVD Decrypter 3.5.4 File Size Error and IC8 Crash

I found the solution to a problem that has been bugging me for a few weeks. On some dvds, such as Open Water, the files that Dvd Decrypter extracts from the dvd cause Instant Copy 8 to crash immediately on processing the ifo files. I have an identical setup on another machine but with v 3.5.2 of DD. This machine does not crash on the same movie. Why???

I opened the VIDEO_TS.IFO file on machine 1 using Ifoedit and tried to save it back with no mods. Here is the error message I got:

IFO Endsector does not match file size

I then did a binary compare between VIDEO_TS.IFO from the DD 3.5.4 rip and a Smartripper rip. Yes there were differences. It even shows up on explorer as a 4kb file size difference. When I use Smartripper's file, IC8 does not bomb in its initial processing phase.

Well, what is causing DD 3.5.4 to modify the ifo file, as opposed to DD 3.5.2 or Smartripper? Note: I am running with default rip parameters.

Hi!

Perhaps under Tools>>Settings>>File Mode it makes a difference whether you've put a checkmark next to "Ignore Unreferenced VTS Sets"?

My version comes up with this checked. It seems to be a default. Thanks for the information. With no check, the VIDEO_TS.IFO file is extracted intact. Then Instant Copy 8 is happy and does not fault with an exception error, and also completes its mission.

What programs need to have this setting checked?

Thanks for the information.

My pleasure ;>}

I assume you mean "Titles" rather than "programs"? I believe this option is useful when dealing with Universal Studios' releases that contain the "Jumping Boy" ("Billy Elliot" clip)so-called copy protection...
