I am a linux n00b. I have a 120GB and 160GB drive. The 120 is formatted and is running linux. I would like to integrate the 160GB drive to the 120GB drive.

I would greatly appreciate the commands to integrate them both so that I read 280GB on my drive. Please note that I only have a rudimentary understanding of the file system in linux. I need the process in reasonable detail.

OS: Ubuntu Linux (Hoary Hedgehog) v5.04
120GB: hdc
160GB: hdd

Please let me know if you need any more details. Thanks.

If you want to extend your 120 Gb to 280, you probably want to use LVM
handy link
http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/docs/HOWTO/other-formats/html_single/LVM-HOWTO.html

You may also want to consider mounting part of the 180 Gb on big directories
(such as /usr, /var/, /tmp /home)

It is usefull in case you want to reinstall, you keep your /home
