Hello guys!
At http://www.vcdhelp.com/comparison.htm they write that you can resize an avi with TMPG and then Frameserve it to CCE. Can anybody please tell me how to do that?
Thanks in Advance

Easier than you might think. Just set your desired size in the first tab of the configuration dialog, save project (tpr), then put it through VFAPI.

Thanks man, you are great!
Can you please give me further instructions on how to do that and what I need for it?
Thanks in Advance

You need to download and install TMpgEnc (of course), the matching VFP plugin, and the VFAPI Reader Codec. You can find them all on doom9's site.
A hint for the installs - read the readme files that come with the downloads.
As for doing it, first, just try.
The resize is very straight forward - just open the configuration dialog in TMpgEnc and enter the size.
The save project file in TMpgEnc is very straight forward - just choose File/Save Project.
And the VFAPI reader codec is very straight forward. Just click Add, select your TmpgEnc project file, click okay in the resulting dialog, then click convert.
If you try it, I think you'll find you don't really need any instructions.

Hello Kedirekin, its me again (:-)!
Thanks a lot for you help. I have got another question, how big does the file get that VFapi Reader Codec puts on the hard disk? I ran it only a few secs and the file was already over 200mb big. And does it work with the 2 Pass Encoding of CCE?
Thanks in Advance

> how big does the file get
Depends if you have audio enabled or not.
With audio disabled, VFAPI finishes conversion in just a second or three, and the file should be quite small; from a few hundred KB to maybe a couple of MB
With audio enabled, the VFAPI file will contain all the audio data (in wav format, I think). For a long movie, this could run well over a gig. And the VFAPI reader codec will take much long to save the file (like several minutes).
I prefer to process audio separately, so I shut off audio in the dialog that pops up after you select the tpr file.

It does for me.

Hello Kedirekin!
Many thanks for your help. I have got one last question. How long does it take on your computer to convert a 90 minute movie? What kind of computer do you have?

There are so many variable that affect speed that there really isn't any way to answer that question.
My first encodes were done on a 500 MHz PIII. Using TMpgEnc, encoding a single movie took up to three full days, with an evening ahead of time pre-processing, and another evening afterwards encoding audio, muxing and authoring.
Now I have a 1 GHz PIII dually. In TmpgEnc, I get about 1:7 speed. A single-pass encode of a 90 minute movie would take about 10½ hours. However, I don't use TMpg much any more (except for IVTC); it's simply too slow.

?????
SMP system dual PIII 800 , 1 GB RAM, Epox DV3A mobo, Win2k Pro SP2 :
120 mins AVI movie ( DivX ) to S-VCD in 2 Pass VBR in 10 hours both passes.
Am i doing something wrong ?
Are you using filters ( denoiser, edge sharpener ) ?
Or is this because its an AVI already ( no frameserver needed, but i still have to do resizing in TMPEG of course ) ?
BTW i ticked all boxes in the according TMPEG CPU config menu and assigned 100 MB for external threads ....

When I convert a tpr, with audio deselected , framecount is way off when I open the avi in CCE. Last time I tried it reported a 5 hour movie while it only was 90 or so mins.
Anyone?
