i have 3 small questions, pardon me if they have been asked earlier:
1. does x264 encoding with megui support ivtc?
2. is weighted prediction broken in x264 encoding? as when i use this option in megui, it crashes on 2nd pass!
3. also, whenever i change the fourcc to avc1 in x264 encoding with megui, it crashes, so is this really a general problem, or something's wrong in my encoding?
Thanks!

none of the those issues have been ever reported. Something must be wrong on your side.
however ivtc is not directly supported by MeGUI. You should create an AVS script that does the IVTC and load it in MeGUI.

ok, thanks!

You can also easily create the avs script in GordianKnot or other softwares (for example Autodub), save it and load it in MeGUI.

MeGUI has an AVS generator in the tools and it does have an IVTC feature. I would still do it myself since I don't think you have much control over it.

ya, i already use gknot to create avs script and use it in megui, it was just that with weighted prediction turned on, it was giving errors and crashing! this weighted prediction worked in nero avc, but never mind!

i have a small question, should i do abr or 2-pass encoding in megui, and if i do 2-pass encoding, should i open the avs script separately for each pass config. in megui, and should i select the log file for each pass separately?

However i always use Wpred and never gave me any problems...

which encoding do u do, abr,cq or multipass?

I use multiple passes (3) to hit a desired filesize (using the bitrate from MeGUI's calculator.) or a CQ od 20-24 for a good even quality when a specific filesize isn't an issue. For multipass, you only need to open the AVS once in MeGUI.
I'm using the latest MeGUI, x264 and ffdshow to decode and weighted prediction performs great.

abr or 2-pass encoding depends on your demands.
you needn't open the same avs for 2 times.
log file from 1st-pass is prepared for 2nd-pass.
