A friend of mine bought some dvds from a person that is not a studio, has a personal company and does home made DVDs from tv shows for example old vhs converted to DVD, just a guy that has vhs collections and edits, burns, and sell them on the web.

My friend bought the dvds and tried to make a backup using dvdshrink and other programs too i think.

The strange part is that i found out that the backups are not the same as the original copy, since some small scenes were lost, for example in a tv episode... like 40 seconds worth of scenes were just removed on the backup.
Those 40 seconds are on the original but they are not in the backup.

The bought dvd has the scene but the backup doesnt.

I was just wondering what kind of copy protection is this? and if there is any way to break it? how come using the programs that everybody use the backup has less scenes than the original (less seconds) of video and audio.

this is very weird.

It was illegal for the person to have sold the DVDs to your friend, therefore I'm pretty sure your request for help violates rule #6 of this forum.
