Hello, :)
I like to do video files with x264 codec and Vorbis (180kbps winner at This Listening Test (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=36465) ) codec for audio. But I don't be able to find information about to put both on a container, I think Matroska can do it, but there are more alternatives? MP4 & OGM can do it?
Which are the tools to do the job? I already know the existence of MeGUI that do x264+AAC at MP4 & MKV.
Bye

Hi,

AVC + Vorbis in MKV and MP4 is possible.

for MKV you should use mkvtoolnix - the #1 Matroska muxing tool :)

for MP4 you need mp4box (+ YAMB as a GUI) - the most versatile mp4 muxing app

In any case you need Haali's Media Splitter for playback ...

Last but not least before muxing you should check your Vorbis for correct channel mapping (if you target 5.1 sound).

I would suggest to not use vorbis in MP4. The reason is everyone expects mpeg4 streams in mp4 files.
MKV is more appropriate for that purpouse.

the mp4box dev says that his vorbis to mp4 muxing code is experimental and the way he stores vorbis in mp4 might change in the future so files muxed today might not work well in the future

How about muxing vorbis and avc in the need of streaming them? can i do it in vlc? because ogg container didn't work with avc (in vlc) though it works with mpeg4 asp + vorbis sound. the best i've got working is mp3+avc in asf container

Matroska could be of some use.
