I was advised that with the program Clone DVD that there was an option available with the program that would automatically get rid of the files if the block was checked.
Then I was advised that i should just do a search for "Clone DVD Temp files" and this would show if there were files sitting on the HD that I did not want.
After the last couple of burns of backups, I did the latter and nothing showed up and thus I assumed that all was clear as far as no files sitting on my HD.
Then I proceeded to do my Perfect Disk Defrag and noticed how sluggish it was and of course from prior experience I knew that it had something to do with my prior backup burning.
As i learned this the hard way when I first commenced this new hobby of doing backups!!!!
What Perfect Disk normally defragged in 45 -50 mins, then took several hours and so i discussed the issue with a techie friend and he suggested to me that perhaps i had the last 6 backup files that I burned sitting on my HD and sure enough he was right.

Well, this last burning I did a search on "Clone DVD Temp Files" and nothing came up and so I typed in "vts" and they were all sitting there in their splendor of so many millions of bytes clogging up my HD!!!!!!!!!!!!

What I wanted to know is how do I insure that these files are all gone without having to do a search????

I really look forward to replies, thankyou.

CloneDVD only deletes its own temp files, by default in My Documents\CloneDVD. You also have to delete the RIPPED files. Your ripping program will tell you where it has placed them.

When you search your drive for files, the correct way is the second method you used. A computer doesn't have any idea what a "Clone DVD Temp Files" is, and if it's not a part of any filename you won't get any results.
