hello, i wonder if you guys can help me... I reauthored a PAL DVD and reduced it's resolution to 600 x 480 (in CCE) and now the subtitles I added to the DVD look fuzzy (probably because subtitle creator only has the standard 720 X 576 for PAL). What could I possibly do to fix this? :thanks:

Why did You changed it to 600x480. 352x480, 704x480 and 720x480 are the right resolutions. 600 x 480 is illegal.

What standart do You use for the subtitles? TXT or pictures.

I know 600 x 480 is illegal, but there was no other way... The movie is almost 3 hours and a half long, and at 704 x 480 the image quality wouldn't have been good enough. And now I can't add any subtitles...

"What standart do You use for the subtitles? TXT or pictures."

I'm not sure I can answer this question... Uhm... I just open Subtitle Creator, load a *srt subtitle adjust it's position on screen and then save it as a *sup file (to my knoledge the sup file is made of pictures)...

Use half-D1, 352 x 480/576, instead then. Of course even then only 4:3 is spec-compliant.

I'd be worrying more about being able to play the movie back (properly) on a standalone than being able to add subtitles.

352 x 480 would be too small.... Oh well, I guess I'll try using 704x480 but... I'm affraid I'm gonna wait another 10 hours for a CCE 6 pass and then i still won't be able to add subtitles :(

srt is a txt-file. If You have a fast internet connection You can upload a little part of Your source with the srt-file to megaupload.com and I'll take a look on it. Normaly it is not so hard to do it. 352x480 can also be 16:9. It played on my DVD-Player. Why do You do a 6 pass encode with this movie length? 2pass is ok.

... lets see what I can do for You. What is the playtime of the movie?

352x480 can also be 16:9. It played on my DVD-Player.

It can play in many dvd players but it is not dvd-spec compliant according to the Scenarist documentation :)
